As you can see from the chart above, the processors in Sony's laptops are clocked considerably higher. They're regular mobile processors instead of ultra-low voltage chips, and each draws 35W of power to run dual cores.

Here's a more detailed comparison courtesy of Intel. Pure processor clock speed is the biggest difference between the various chips, but Sony's picks boast MHz Graphics Base Frequency for the HD graphics, compared to MHz with the processors Apple chose. You probably noticed by now that the VAIO Z offers some serious configuration options at a serious price. It matches the Air on storage, RAM, battery life and graphics, and bests Apple's ultralight on port options, weight and display resolution. If you're searching for an ultralight that can also serve as a desktop replacement and actually play some games, give the VAIO Z a long, hard look.
Ask Adam: Most Important Tool Used Least. At that size, the Ultrabook was easy to carry around in my backpack, and the carbon fiber construction felt durable. The inch, 1, by 1, pixel touchscreen is bright and sharp. I watched several p video clips, and the picture was clear and showed good detail. The display also offers good viewing angles.

Apple chose not to upgrade the screen on its new MacBook Air, so it has the same 1, by pixel resolution. But, to be honest, you have to look at the two screens really closely to see a difference. The touchscreen was responsive. I often used it to launch applications rather than using the touchpad, which I found to be a bit stiff. The chiclet-style keyboard is roomy, and adequately backlit for easy use in darker environments. You get two USB 3.
The speaker is located along the hinge. In my testing, I found it to be very responsive.
Prizefight: Sony Vaio Pro 13 vs. Apple's inch MacBook Air - CNET
It only took about five seconds between the time I turned on the laptop and the time the Start screen appeared, which blew me away, and it takes less than a couple of seconds to wake up from sleep mode. Most days, I use my laptop to check email, work on Office documents, browse the Web and watch some videos, and the Vaio Pro 13 handled all those tasks without problem.
So let's average out all 5 rounds and then to throw down, where Sony led almost the entire time. Apple fought back hard in the last 2 rounds and just edges out the Sony Vaio Pro 13 4. This battle ground is still fierce and the real decisions might just come down to which operating system you prefer.
